If you're ready to create some scalable, even passive income in your business, you might want to consider creating an ecourse.  

An ecourse is a great way to package your knowledge in a digestible way, and to cater to different learning styles. You can create a course that you run at certain times and that has a set schedule in which students are expected to work. You can also create evergreen, self-paced courses that students can work through at their own pace.  

If you've been offering services or coaching, you're already teaching people. Creating a course is a logical (and scalable) next step! 

So how do you create and launch an ecourse?  

Step one: Come up with a topic.  

What do you know a lot about? What do people ask you to help with? What does your business help people do?  

Think about helping your customers solve one big, specific problem. For example, if you're a writing coach, you can launch a course that walks students through the process of writing a nonfiction book in 90 days, or in writing a book proposal. If you're a business coach, maybe your course is about helping students launch their dream business in 5 weeks.  

Figure out the problem. Make sure it’s a problem you know how to solve, and that people want solved.

Step Two: Organize your topic 

I suggest doing a massive brain dump of everything you know about solving this problem for your customer. This might sound like a huge task, but you'd be surprised how quickly you can map out an entire course's work of content! Take a half hour or so and brainstorm everything you can think of about the topic.  

Then, start organizing. What do your students need to know first? Next? After that? Arrange that content into a logical order. Break that content into sections, topics, modules.  

Step Three: Pick your format 

How do you want to deliver your content? In writing? Video? Audio? A combination of the three?  

Ecourses tend to work well when they're made up of different types of media. Different people have different learning styles, and you probably have a format that suits you best. This also allows you to offer worksheets and printables to help students practice the material.  

Your content might naturally work best in a certain format. For example, if you're teaching a painting course, your best bet might be video. If you like to talk, video or audio might be a good fit.  

Think about your content and how you best communicate.  

Step Four: Decide on a platform 

Once you've planned out your course, how are you going to deliver it to your students? There are plenty of options for all kinds of course formats.  

Teachable and Thinkific are two popular options. You can simply upload your video, audio, and written content, and students simply log in to access the materials.  

You can also create an autoresponder series (if your mailing list provider allows it) that is triggered when a student enrolls or when the start date arrives, and simply email the materials to students.  

If you want to host the materials on your own site, you can send students a special, private link where they can access the materials.  

You can also host private videos on Youtube and send students the link or password to access them.  

There are tons of options!  

Creating ecourses can be really overwhelming, but remember to take it in baby steps. You can do it!
